EA Fisheries visits

Hello All,

Yesterday your local police team escorted and assisted  Environmental Agency Fisheries officers around eleven locations in and around Saddleworth.

The aim of the day from the EA officers point of view was to deter illegal fishing through gentle engagement, with reports and fines to follow should this approach fail, with police in attendance to ensure their safety (conflict near deep water is never good) and to prosecute theft of fish / theft of fishing rights offences where appropriate.

Most anglers were compliant with both a rod license and permission from the fishing club available for checks. 

Positive action was taken in the form of;

Fishing is a past time enjoyed for the connection with nature, stress relief, challenge and development of personal skills; if you or someone you know is interested in taking fishing up as a sport or hobby, the UK angling trust has a lot of information available on its website which may be useful.
